We have a brand-new opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Projects & Construction team working directly with highly regarded Partner, Paul Calvert in Brisbane.

About the team and the work

• Be a part of a growth story and work directly with a Partner who has worked on some of Queensland (and Australia’s) largest and most iconic projects. You will gain exposure to construction and project matters throughout the East Coast, Tasmania, and Western Australia.

• Gain exposure to a diverse client base including principals and developers, builders, suppliers, consultants and bank and non-bank lenders, and spanning residential, commercial, and industrial developments in the entertainment, health, education, transport, mining and energy sectors. 

• There will be a strong focus on front‑end construction work, including contract drafting, procurement strategies, tendering, negotiations and project documentation.

About you

• 4+ years’ experience in construction law gained from a reputable mid‑tier or top‑tier firm, ideally with exposure to every phase of a project’s lifecycle.

• Strong experience in front‑end construction contracts, with well‑developed drafting, analytical and advisory skills, and exposure to procurement, major projects or infrastructure matters is highly regarded.

• An entrepreneurial flair with excellent communication skills and an inclusive approach. You must be willing to mentor junior lawyers and work directly with clients as this practice grows.
