Job Description - Audiovisual Technician

We are extremely excited to offer the opportunity for a creative, tech-savvy, and driven individual to join our skilled interview production team as an Audiovisual Technician at Contour MedPrep!

Who are We

Contour MedPrep is a leading medical preparation program that currently specialises in comprehensive UCAT & MMI preparation, aiming to empower and support the next generation of healthcare professionals in the highly competitive yet often daunting process of gaining entry into medical school.

Our UCAT course aligns itself with the objective of the UCAT, rigorously training students in the mental abilities and skills of a successful doctor or dentist, through engaging group lessons, comprehensive and abundant resources, live mock exams, 24/7 student support and so much more! We are extremely committed to innovative and results-driven medical preparation, with industry-first initiatives such as our Live UCAT Testing Centre and student accountability system propelling our 2023 students to an industry-leading median UCAT score of 3040+, one student even setting the world record score of 3590.

Over 3,000 students and 100 staff have joined our tutoring services since our founding in 2020. Our growth is a testament to our dedication to providing ALL our students and parents with a high-quality tutoring experience (from 24/7 personal support to on-demand resources) and our commitment to helping them achieve their goals. We were listed as the 17th Fastest Growing Startup by the Australian Financial Review in 2022, and we're continuing to multiply year over year! It's our vision to reshape education, starting with tutoring.

The Role

At Contour MedPrep, we take immense pride in our commitment to student success and the remarkable achievements of our students. Known for producing some of the highest scores in medical preparation, Contour celebrates milestones such as the world record UCAT score of 3590! Our dedication to excellence ensures that our students aren’t just meeting their goals, but far exceeding them!

We believe in the power of sharing these success stories to inspire and educate our current students. By showcasing the journeys of our most successful students - from their nitty gritty study habits, to their hobbies and special interests - we want to motivate our younger students to reach their full potential and strive for greatness. This is where your role becomes crucial!

As an Audiovisual Technician at Contour, you will work closely with our dedicated interview production team. Your primary responsibility will be to capture the stories of our high-achieving students. You’ll be working with professional-grade equipment and top-of-the-line software, so the sky's the limit in terms of your creative potential. Being at the forefront of the setup, you will be maintaining the audiovisual equipment, ensuring that every interview is professionally recorded according to specific lighting, audio, and camera standards.

Your role will involve close collaboration with various team members, including the interview host and producer, who will advise on the set-up and the goals for the shoot. You will also work with the guest students, editors, and the management team. This dynamic workflow and communication between the team is monumentally important for a seamless production and quality end result.

This position is based at our Glen Waverley office, requiring your capacity to work in-person. We are looking for someone with a deep passion for audiovisual work, a commitment to excellence, and a drive to contribute to the success of our students. If you are excited about the opportunity to play a key role in sharing the incredible achievements of our students and are dedicated to high-quality production, we would love to have you on the team!

Why Contour, and Why This Role?

Working in our collaborative environment with an energetic team is a fantastic opportunity to let your creative brain thrive, hone your production skills and learn heaps along the way!

At Contour MedPrep, you’ll get an inside look at one of the fastest growing start-ups in education in Australia. Our team is super driven and hard-working, but we’re all easy-going and friendly, and we love our frequent (paid-for 😉) team dinners and meet-ups, where you’ll get to talk and vibe with everyone.

Our goal is to reshape education, starting with tutoring. We think there's an opportunity for a brand and organisation to create a significant impact on school-level education in Australia. We believe, through the implementation of technology and modern business practices, learning can be much more enjoyable and effective for students. As we progress, our small steps start to become big strides, as we make major advances in the resources & support we provide to our students.

Rather than just adopting usual ad campaigns for our high-achieving students, we wanted to go above and beyond in sharing our student success stories through a high-quality, personalised production series. Through this production, you’ll harness your creativity and work with our young and energetic team to display Contour's brand in its true, vibrant colours - our students and their journeys at Contour, our passionate team of tutors, our offices, our culture, our study and work environment, and much, much more!

We strongly believe that if you want to apply your production, set design and audiovisual monitoring skills in the education sphere, then Contour is the place to be! We have so many exciting projects planned - and if you’re someone that enjoys the social bustle of working with enthusiastic, talented people, then this might just be the role for you!

Comprehensive Training & Support

We understand that walking into (and having to monitor unfamiliar equipment in) a new production set can be a daunting process. But rest assured, we’ve assembled the ultimate teaching team (including the original set designers and producers!) to make sure you’re well-prepared from day one. When you join, you'll be properly onboarded with all the support and personal feedback you need to settle in, and you'll work closely with the founders and gain a deep understanding of the voice and personality of our brand. You'll also be thoroughly introduced to all our current marketing and content creation systems and processes, including our support staff and teams that work on graphics design and creatives.

Key Responsibilities

As an Audiovisual Technician, your main tasks will include (but are not limited to):

  • Setup and packdown of a professional-grade set design, including furniture, decor, lighting, camera and audio equipment.
  • Monitoring audiovisual equipment during the course of the interview, adjusting lighting, camera settings, monitoring audio inputs, tracking AV input through computer software. This also involves uploading and transferring video files through the Contour server.
  • Collaborating with the producer, host, student guest and management team, and providing technical feedback on the setup by making modifications as necessary for an improved set production.
  • Liaising with the video editor, to ensure continuity in visual and audio standards and creating adjustments as necessary.
  • Communicating with founders of Contour, to ensure content production is consistent with the company’s brand voice, style guides, and educational philosophy.

Expected Hours

  • Minimum of 6 hours per week at our Glen Waverley office, including time for setup/packdown and administrative work.

Compensation

  • $30/hour + Super
