About the Role

The Audit Manager – Credit Risk & Models supports delivery of independent third-line assurance across Retail Credit Risk, Wholesale Credit Risk and Model Risk through the Credit Risk Centre of Audit. 

Reporting to the Audit Director – Credit Risk & Models, the role contributes to audit engagements across the approved Internal Audit plan, supporting evidence-based assessments of governance, risk management practices and controls relating to credit decision making, portfolio management and model use. 

The role works closely with audit teams and business stakeholders to support high-quality audit delivery in accordance with Internal Audit methodology and Global Internal Audit Standards, while contributing to effective risk assessment, audit execution and a strong speak-up culture.

What will your day look like?

As Audit Manager – Credit Risk & Models, core accountabilities include: 

• Contribute as a team member to audit engagements across the Credit Risk Centre of Audit, supporting delivery of independent third-line assurance across credit risk and model risk in line with the approved Internal Audit plan. 


• Execute assigned audit activities within agreed scope and timelines, managing own deliverables effectively and escalating delivery risks, dependencies or delays promptly. 


• Support effective risk identification and audit scoping, applying understanding of portfolio context, processes and controls to inform audit testing. 


• Apply Internal Audit methodology and Global Internal Audit Standards consistently, ensuring work is evidence based, well documented and supports clear conclusions. 


• Apply relevant risk management frameworks, including the Non-Financial Risk Framework, to support sound risk analysis and audit judgements. 


• Complete issue follow-up, documentation and validation tasks accurately and on time, ensuring evidence is clear, complete and review ready. 


• Use data, analytics and available tools where appropriate to support testing, analysis and formation of audit observations. 


• Engage professionally with stakeholders during audit delivery, supporting effective communication, factual accuracy and constructive challenge through the audit team. 


• Contribute to clear, value-adding audit observations, grounded in evidence and proportionate to identified risks. 


• Contribute to a positive risk and speak-up culture, demonstrating professionalism, accountability and openness to feedback, and supporting team learning. 

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you’ll ideally bring the following: 

• Internal audit execution: Sound understanding of Internal Audit methodology, evidence standards, documentation requirements and delivery discipline, applied under direction to deliver high-quality audit work. 


• Credit risk: Working knowledge of Retail or Wholesale Credit Risk, including credit risk governance, risk management frameworks, portfolio management practices, first- and second-line oversight activities and control environments relevant to assigned audits. 


• Model risk: Working knowledge of model risk concepts and the end-to-end model lifecycle, sufficient to support audit testing, interpret model-related evidence and engage effectively with Audit Leads and specialists. 


• Business acumen: Working understanding of banking fundamentals and operating models, including how credit products and portfolios are originated, managed, monitored and governed across end-to-end customer value chains, sufficient to support effective audit delivery. 


• Audit delivery capability: Demonstrated experience contributing to audits or audit workstreams, managing assigned activities to agreed scope and timelines and producing clear, well-supported work outputs. 


• Stakeholder interaction: Ability to work professionally with business stakeholders during audits and communicate issues clearly through the audit team. 


• Data-enabled assurance: Ability to use data, analytics and available tools where appropriate to support audit testing, analysis and formation of audit observations. 


• Good to have: Experience in credit risk or model-driven environments within a large, regulated financial institution; exposure to audits or reviews involving models or quantitative techniques; or exposure to regulatory interactions, remediation activity or thematic risk work. 


• Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in finance, economics, risk, accounting, mathematics, statistics or a related discipline. Quantitative or risk-focused professional qualifications (e.g. FRM, CFA or similar) are advantageous.
