Job Description:

  • Department and location: Sacred Heart Health Service - Palliative Care Service

  • Salary: $126,524 - $134,338 + Super + Salary Packaging

About the role

  • Provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership across the Bereavement Service, Biography Service and palliative care clinical psychology functions within the Sacred Heart Palliative Care Service.

  • Manage and support bereavement service staff and palliative care clinical psychologists, and provide leadership support to the biography service managers and their team of volunteers.

  • Deliver advanced clinical expertise in bereavement care, including clinical counselling assessments and the provision of ongoing bereavement support, interventions and treatment through individual and group modalities.

  • Develop, implement and evaluate models of care within bereavement and supportive care services to ensure high-quality, patient- and family-centred support.

  • Manage finances, expenditure and resources for the bereavement and biography services, while leading quality improvement activities to enhance care effectiveness and patient experience.

  • Maintain effective communication and partnerships with key stakeholders, contribute to governance and service meetings, assist with policy and procedure development, and maintain own professional development and clinical practice skills.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, with current AHPRA registration as a Psychologist or eligibility for AASW membership as a Social Worker, and the ability to practise clinically within the scope of the relevant discipline.

  • Proven leadership capability, with the ability to motivate, support and organise staff to achieve high-quality clinical and organisational outcomes.

  • Experience working in palliative care or end-of-life settings, with sound knowledge of bereavement theories, grief and loss processes, and evidence-based supportive care interventions.

  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across disciplines and with external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated experience in applying quality improvement principles, including the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical policies, procedures and service initiatives.

  • Experience in collecting, analysing and reporting data to inform service planning, evaluation and continuous improvement.

In this role you will be based at St Vincent’s hospital, Darlinghurst.
