ABOUT THE COMPANY.
This reputable Local Council based in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney is seeking a Building Compliance Officer to play a pivotal part in their team. For the duration of a 6 month contract, you will be reporting to the Team Leader, promoting a positive image of Council in an efficient and courteous manner.
ABOUT THE POSITION.
In this position, you will actively undertake the business functions associated with investigating and undertaking the appropriate enforcement action in relation to compliance related matters. This is a perfect opportunity within the Public Sector should you want to progress to a Building Surveyor and be surrounded by a supportive and highly dedicated team.
DUTIES. - Investigate unauthorised building and development matters and non-compliance in relation to conditions of development consent
- Conduct investigations on compliance issues regarding breaches of relevant local government, planning and environmental legislation, as required
- Carry out appropriate enforcement action by way of education, fines, notices, orders and directions
- Respond to customer requests in a timely and professional manner
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE. - Relevant tertiary qualifications in tertiary qualification in Planning, Building Surveying, Environmental Health/Science or equivalent professional discipline
- Previous working experience in similar discipline is highly preferable
- Working knowledge of BCA and EPA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
