Job Description - Business Development Manager


BTP forms part of the Perenti Group, a diversified global mining services company, and is one of Australia's largest suppliers of new and used parts and equipment for hire and sale. BTP has supported the mining, earth-moving, and construction industries for over 30 years. The Perenti Group operates across a wide range of mining sectors and offers unique career progression opportunities.


About the Role


BTP is seeking a driven Business Development Manager for our Rental division, to accelerate growth across our Heavy Mobile Equipment rental portfolio. This role is for a true hunter, someone who sees idle fleet as opportunity and knows how to turn relationships, market insight and commercial strategy into revenue.


 


Reporting to the National Asset Manager, you will own the rental growth agenda across your region by increasing on-hire rates, reducing idle fleet and expanding market share. You will work closely with Operations, Asset Management and senior stakeholders to deliver rental strategies that maximise utilisation, revenue and EBIT while strengthening long-term customer partnerships.


 


This is a highly autonomous, field-based role with up to 25% travel, ideal for someone who thrives on accountability, commercial outcomes and being at the sharp end of mining and civil operations.


 


 


Key Requirements


To succeed in this role, you will bring:



  • 5 to 10 years proven success in sales and business development within heavy capital equipment, mining, civil or open-pit environments

  • A strong track record in driving growth and closing high-value rental opportunities

  • Deep understanding of Heavy Mobile Equipment and rental market dynamics

  • Experience working with OEMs or capital equipment suppliers such as CAT or Komatsu

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage contracts, forecasts and sales pipelines

  • Confidence operating autonomously while collaborating with internal stakeholders including Asset Management and Operations

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% per annum

  • Degree in Business, Marketing or a related discipline preferred
