Job Description - Business Development Manager - TopYacht

Northstar Technologies announced the acquisition of TopYacht Pty Ltd, the world’s most comprehensive software suite for sailing results management, in 2022. The sailing community across Australia & New Zealand use TopYacht software as an online, race entry system and/or results system, for club racing (both KB & OTB),  major off-shore keel boat events, regattas (both KB & OTB), OTB world championship events and various other sailing events.

We are excited to be recruiting for a new Business Development Manager role to drive revenue growth by identifying new opportunities, fostering client relationships, and promoting the company's innovative software solutions. This role will ensure that the product meets the needs of the customers while aligning with the business goals.

This role will appeal to an experienced sailing administrator with a background in sales and customer service. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of sailboat race administration, including result processing and handicapping, enabling them to connect with clients effectively.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Product Knowledge & Solutions Selling:

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of TopYacht’s products and services.
  • Provide solutions to meet client-specific needs, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure that the product's strategy, vision, and roadmap are aligned with customer needs and business objectives.
  • Define the functional requirements for the product.
  • Communicate business goals to engineering teams.

 

  • Client Acquisition & Relationship Management:
    • Identify, prospect, and onboard new clients in the yachting industry
    • Build strong, long-term relationships with yacht clubs, managers, and key stakeholders.
    • Conduct client meetings, presentations, and demonstrations to showcase TopYacht’s offerings.

 

Event Participation:

  • Represent TopYacht at trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events to expand the company’s presence and network.

 

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal teams (e.g., operations, product development) to ensure seamless onboarding and implementation for new clients.
  • Provide feedback to improve product offerings based on client needs and market trends.

 

Sales Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with TopYacht's business goals.
  • Identify target markets, assess competitor activity, and adjust strategies to maintain a competitive edge.

 

Market Insights & Reporting:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, customer needs, and competitive offerings.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, pipeline status, and market insights for senior management.

 

This role will be ideally based at our offices in SE Melbourne, and report to the COO based in USA with local support and training from our ANZ and international team.
