Job Description - Business Development Representative

Business Development Representative (BDR) 


At Klaviyo, our mission is to help businesses own their growth. We empower creators, entrepreneurs, and e-commerce brands to build meaningful relationships with their customers through powerful data, automation, and marketing tools. As a Business Development Representative (BDR), you’ll be a key part of bringing that mission to life—introducing eCommerce brands to the Klaviyo platform, setting the foundation for long-term success.


BDRs take a proactive approach—researching and reaching out to brands who haven’t yet engaged with us. You’ll build a pipeline through cold outreach, strategic prospecting, and compelling messaging. This track requires grit, creativity, and resilience to open doors and create new opportunities.


How You’ll Make an Impact



  • Generate qualified opportunities for the sales team(Account Executive’s) through a rigorous qualification approach

  • Build prospective relationships with e-commerce brands and help them understand how Klaviyo can drive their growth.

  • Learn to effectively identify buyer needs, position Klaviyo’s value, and route leads appropriately to Account Executives.

  • Stay organized, focused, and consistent in your outreach across multiple channels—calls, emails, and social.

  • Demonstrate grit and resilience by staying positive and motivated, even in the face of rejection.
    Reflect Klaviyo’s core values of accountability, effort, and winning as one in every interaction.
    Share insights, contribute to a supportive team culture, and help improve our processes as we scale.

  • Transform workflows by putting AI at the center, building smarter systems and ways of working from the ground up.


Who You Are:



  • Driven by a strong desire to launch a career in tech sales, with ambitions to grow into roles like Account Executive.

  • Possess grit, resilience, and curiosity—you bounce back quickly and always want to learn more.
    Thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments with high standards and clear goals.

  • A strong communicator who’s confident over the phone, clear in writing, and thoughtful in your approach.

  • Self-motivated, coachable, and energized by being part of a high-performing team.

  • You’ve already experimented with AI in work or personal projects, and you’re excited to dive in and learn fast. You’re hungry to responsibly explore new AI tools and workflows, finding ways to make your work smarter and more efficient

  • Have valid authorization to work in Australia


 



Klaviyo in APAC:


We are starting small but have big plans for Klaviyo in APAC. Our Sydney team began to take shape throughout 2022 and has now built out our go to market teams in sales, customer success, partnerships, marketing, recruiting and product support. As the team grows we will see a continued expansion of Klaviyo’s customer base and the building of a fantastic working culture in line with what we see elsewhere in Klaviyo but with its own local identity within our Sydney based team. This is your unique opportunity to join us at a very early stage and help to shape our future Klaviyo in APAC.


One of our values as a company is ‘always learning’ and you can feel that in APAC. People are looking to grow and develop and Klaviyo provides a great platform to do so. As we are still relatively early in our journey in APAC this means there is a lot of headroom to grow and develop within your role - we are looking for the leaders of the future. At Klaviyo generally managers are often promoted up into their roles and people are regularly being promoted or moving into new functional areas - it really is an education through experience here. 



We use Covey as part of our hiring and / or promotional process. For jobs or candidates in NYC, certain features may qualify it as an AEDT. As part of the evaluation process we provide Covey with job requirements and candidate submitted applications. We began using Covey Scout for Inbound on April 3, 2025.
