We are seeking a motivated Consultant to join our National Finance team, based in Sydney. This is a fixed-term opportunity where you'll play a key role in supporting financial planning, forecasting, and reporting, while partnering closely with business leaders to drive strategic outcomes. What will your typical day look like?
In this role, you'll be working closely with senior finance stakeholders to support month-end processes, deliver high-quality reporting, and provide insights that influence business decisions. You'll combine hands-on management accounting with strong business partnering, helping translate financial data into meaningful outcomes.
Day to day, you'll be involved in month-end close activities, preparing and analysing financial results, and supporting forecasting and planning cycles. You'll also engage directly with business leaders, helping them understand performance, manage costs, and align financial outcomes with strategic objectives. Along the way, you'll contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help strengthen financial processes and governance.

Meet the National Finance team - a multidisciplinary group of finance professionals who play a critical role in supporting Deloitte's business performance. The team provides strategic financial advice, management reporting, and accounting support across the firm.

You may have all or some of the following skills / experiences:
1+ years of experience in a finance, accounting, or business partnering role
Strong understanding of financial reporting, planning, and forecasting processes
Experience supporting month-end close activities, including journals and accruals
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to build trusted relationships with business leaders and internal stakeholders
Strong MS Excel skills; experience with SAP, ERP systems, or BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Cognos, TM1) is advantageous
Experience with financial planning tools such as Anaplan (desirable)
CA/CPA qualification (or working towards) with a relevant tertiary degree
A proactive, collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
