The Role 


Are you a technically strong Operational Risk professional who enjoys partnering with the business to improve controls, strengthen governance, and drive meaningful risk outcomes?


We're looking for a Business Partner, First Line Risk to join our growing Risk team at MUFG Retirement Solutions. This role sits within the First Line of Defence and will work closely with business leaders to identify, assess, monitor and mitigate operational risks across the organisation. 


This is a highly visible role where you'll provide practical risk guidance, challenge thinking, support business decision-making, and help embed a strong risk culture across the organisation. You'll have the opportunity to work on risk frameworks, controls uplift, assurance activities, change initiatives, and operational resilience programs within a complex and regulated financial services environment. 


We are seeking a candidate with a strong foundation in Technology, Data, and Security Governance. You will act as a key partner in identifying, assessing, and managing technology-related risks, ensuring our operational resilience and adherence to prudential standards.


 


 


 Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities 

 


 



  • Governance Expertise: Strong experience in Technology, Data, and Security Governance frameworks and implementation. Awareness of emerging AI frameworks.

  • Controls & Risk Management: Proven experience in designing and monitoring controls and managing risk profiles, specifically with the ability to bridge the gap between operational systems and GRC platforms.

  • Industry Knowledge: Proven experience working within an APRA-regulated environment.

  • Framework Proficiency: An understanding and practical application of critical risk and security frameworks, including:

    • APRA Prudential Standards & Guides (specifically CPS 230, CPS 234, and CPG 235)

    • ISO 27001 (Information Security Management)

    • ISO 42001 (Artificial Intelligence Management System)

    • NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) & AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF)

    • Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Act


  • Risk Management: Ability to translate complex technical risks into business-relevant insights for senior stakeholders.


 


 


 


 Experience & Personal Attributes 

 


We're particularly interested in candidates with strong technical risk capability who enjoy understanding how systems, processes and controls operate within a regulated environment.


You'll bring:



  • Experience in Operational Risk, First Line Risk, Compliance, Controls Assurance, Risk Consulting or a related discipline.

  • Strong knowledge of risk management principles, controls frameworks and governance practices. 

  • Experience assessing and improving business processes, controls and risk frameworks. 

  • The ability to analyse complex operational environments and identify emerging risks. 

  • Exposure to risk registers, incidents, audits, assurance activities and remediation programs. 

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to engage and influence leaders at all levels. 

  • Experience within financial services, superannuation, banking, insurance or other regulated industries. 

  • Knowledge of superannuation legislation and regulatory requirements will be highly regarded. 

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and analytical skills. 

  • A collaborative approach and genuine passion for driving better risk outcomes
