Cadet Journalist - Innovative Company

Bundaberg Today, a leading news media business in Bundaberg, is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Cadet Journalist to join our team. 

This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will receive:

• An entry level salary
• Deakin University based training
• On the job training in all aspects of journalism, including news gathering, reporting, and writing

Responsibilities:

• Assist with researching and writing articles for publication across our print and online platforms
• Attend press conferences, events, and interviews to gather news stories
• Photography to record news, current events, sports, and lifestyle stories
• Conduct interviews with a range of sources
• Work closely with our editorial team to pitch and develop story ideas
• Utilise social media platforms to engage with our audience and promote our content
• Adhere to journalistic ethics and standards
• Attend Deakin University based training (3 years)

Requirements:

• Successful completion of Year 12
• Drivers Licence and reliable vehicle
• Availability to work weekends and public holidays
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
• Willingness to learn and take direction
