Canteen Assistant – Casual Primary/Secondary School | Casual | Commencing As Soon As Possible
South Coast Baptist College (SCBC) is an independent, co-educational school serving families in the southern metropolitan regions of Perth and beyond, providing inspired, innovative, and exemplary Christian education that empowers students to reach their purpose.
SCBC is seeking a reliable and friendly Canteen Assistant to support the daily operations of our College canteen. In this role, you will work closely with the Canteen Coordinator to provide healthy and nutritious meals and refreshments for students, staff, and volunteers, in accordance with FoodSafe WA regulations.
The successful applicant will contribute to a welcoming and professional environment, assisting with food preparation, serving, cleaning, and the management of daily takings and stock.
Position Description
Assist in the daily operations of the canteen, including preparing for service and maintaining accurate records.
Support stock management, including checking deliveries against invoices when required.
Count and record daily takings alongside another staff member and securely deposit funds.
Assist with cleaning tasks, including benches, equipment, and fixtures.
Follow security procedures, including handling money and keys, arming alarms, and restricting access.
Maintain a positive and cooperative environment for canteen staff and volunteers.
Adhere to College and canteen policies and procedures at all times.
Position Requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Enjoy working with students and engaging with the College community.
Warm, welcoming, and customer service oriented.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Competent money-handling skills.
Essential Criteria
Personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Active participation in a church or Christian community, demonstrating Christian beliefs, behaviour, and practices.
Acceptance of the College’s Statement of Faith.
Ability to build cooperative and supportive relationships with the Board, Principal, staff, students, and parents.
Commitment to personal best practice and the College ethos.
Ability to make decisions that are fair, impartial, and based on fact.
Use of appropriate and proper channels of communication.
Adherence to all SCBC policies and procedures.
Current Working with Children Check.
Commitment to workplace health and safety, including following OH&S policies and reporting hazards.
First Aid Certificate is desirable.
