CAPEX Investment Analyst

Work closely with senior leaders, finance, procurement and operations to drive strategic asset investments, support business growth and ensure capital projects deliver maximum value. 

Reporting to the Director – Asset Management, the Capex Investment Analyst is the central point of coordination for all Asset Management capital expenditure activities across Downer’s fleet and asset portfolio. 

This role works collaboratively with operational, finance, procurement and maintenance stakeholders to prepare, validate and manage Capex submissions from initial concept through to approval.

You will play a key role in ensuring investment proposals are supported by robust financial analysis, total cost of ownership models, asset performance data and business justification. As a trusted advisor and communication conduit, you’ll help drive informed investment decisions that support operational performance, safety, compliance and long-term asset optimisation.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate and prepare Capex submissions, business cases and supporting documentation for executive approval.
• Consolidate asset, maintenance, procurement and financial data to support investment decisions and prioritisation.
• Manage the Capex pipeline, tracking approvals, budgets, forecasts and expenditure.
• Engage with stakeholders across operations, finance, procurement and asset management to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
• Support reporting, cashflow modelling and continuous improvement initiatives across the Asset Management function.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience preparing business cases, Capex proposals, financial analysis or investment submissions within asset-intensive environments.
• Strong understanding of asset management, fleet operations, procurement processes or capital investment governance.
• Demonstrated experience working with ERP, asset management or financial management systems.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to coordinate information across multiple teams.
• Strong analytical capability, financial acumen and attention to detail, coupled with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
