Job Description - Case Management Specialist

Role type: Full Time; Continuing  
Department: ESG - Enterprise Service Group 
Salary: UOM 7 - $111,275  120,453 p.a. plus 17% super

Your next career opportunity: 
You will manage a dedicated WorkCover claims portfolio, ensuring fair, timely and sustainable outcomes for injured staff. You will lead return-to-work coordination, early intervention and reasonable adjustment support while advising managers and HR on legislative obligations. You will help refine claims systems and reporting to improve outcomes across the University. 

What you will deliver: 

  • Determine initial WorkCover claim liability, issue decisions and triage high-risk matters for early, targeted intervention. 

  • Assess and manage ongoing entitlements, including medical expenses and weekly compensation, in line with legislation and policy. 

  • Maintain accurate, secure case records and ensure compliance with WorkSafe claims management and privacy requirements. 

  • Coordinate injury management and return-to-work plans, engaging internal stakeholders and external rehabilitation providers as needed. 

  • Collaborate across Health & Safety and HR to deliver training, early support and reasonable adjustment initiatives. 

You may be a great fit if you: 

  • Hold a Return to Work Coordinator certificate and Certificate IV in Personal Injury Management, or equivalent training and experience. 

  • Bring at least three years’ complex workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work coordination experience. 

  • Apply detailed knowledge of workplace injury legislation to assess liability, entitlements and sustainable return-to-work pathways. 

  • Demonstrate strong emotional resilience, confidently managing difficult conversations while balancing wellbeing and organisational needs. 

  • Analyse case information to identify risks, develop solutions and contribute to improved injury management systems and reporting. 

  • Collaborate effectively with injured workers, managers and HR, providing clear advice and high-quality customer service.

You will join the Enterprise Services Group, which enables transformation and operational efficiency through high-quality shared services. Within this, you will work closely with Health & Safety and injury management specialists who support staff wellbeing across all campuses. The team values collaboration, evidence-based practice and continuous improvement, offering opportunities to deepen your technical expertise and influence proactive injury prevention and support initiatives.
