Job Description - Case Worker, Accommodation and Domestic Family Violence

Employment Type: Full-Time (76h 00m per fortnight) Fixed-Term (until 10 July 2026)

Classification Level: 4 ($44.81 to $48.22 per hour)

THE ROLE


The Accommodation and Domestic and Family Violence (ADFV) team will be responsible for providing information, assessment and referral services, as well as providing case management support to those in supported accommodation (including Kyabra’s DFV shelter), and to clients accessing support through Kyabra’s Mobile DFV service.



The ADFV Case Worker will ensure that the most appropriate and effective support services are provided to those experiencing domestic and family violence and unstable housing. This will be facilitated by providing casework support to a range of individuals and families to support aspirations, growth and change using a strengths-based approach.



The position involves both centre-based and outreach functions involving coordinated work with a range of agency, community and staff resources. The successful candidate will also be required to be on an on-call roster.



Hours of Work


The successful candidate is expected to work 76h 00m per fortnight.



REQUIREMENTS



  • A bachelor’s degree in social work/human services or similar.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working within the community sector across one or more of the following areas: intake and assessment, domestic violence, housing and homelessness, mental health, community development, disability.

  • Demonstrated case management experience with the capacity to make gendered analyses of domestic and family violence and, understand circumstances surrounding housing and homelessness. 

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following; the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act, Child Protection Legislation and Regulation, The Residential Tenancies Act and/or other relevant legislation within the Human Services field.

  • Experience with the use of client management systems (e.g. SRS, QHIP), including comprehensive, accurate case noting.

  • Understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of social justice, as well as a demonstrated capacity to work with community members using a strengths-based approach.

  • Cultural competency, including a demonstrated understanding of, and experience with, working with people from CALD backgrounds.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, including an ability to work autonomously or as part of a team, and adapt to various circumstances as necessary to support community members.

  • Intermediate computer literacy skills, including familiarity with Microsoft 365 Office Suite.

  • A valid open driver’s license.

  • A valid Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or eligibility to attain one as well as a willingness to partake in any other required police/history checks as required by the organisation.



Desirable



  • Knowledge of broader referral networks, or the ability to rapidly acquire them.
