Job Description - CELTA Teacher Trainer

CELTA TEACHER TRAINER – ILSC Teacher Training Centre (Brisbane/ Melbourne)



Overview of role
ILSC Education Group is one of Australia’s largest and most recognised language schools, known for the quality, rigour and variety of programs that are tailored to best meet international student needs and interests. ILSC Programs include General English, English for Academic Purposes, IELTS Preparation, Cambridge Preparation, and a variety of engaging Elective classes. 
The casual ILSC Celta Teacher Trainer is a qualified, dedicated CELTA Trainer who delivers high-quality training on our full-time and part-time CELTA programs. Delivering high-quality CELTA programs, supporting trainee development, and upholding Cambridge Assessment English standards across all aspects of the course. Always ensuring academic integrity; working collaboratively and constructively within the teaching and broader teams; completing all administrative and reporting tasks as required; and adhering to relevant ILSC Policies and Procedures. This role reports to the National Director of Teacher Training & Exams and takes guidance from The Campus Director of Studies and Senior Teacher Trainer.



Job Duties



  • Deliver engaging and well-structured CELTA input sessions

  • Observe Teaching Practice lessons and provide clear, constructive oral and written feedback

  • Support trainees through guided lesson planning and professional development discussions

  • Assess and grade written assignments in line with the marking rubrics, providing clear 
    feedback and opportunities for resubmission where appropriate

  • Conduct stage tutorials to review progress, offer personalised guidance, and agree 
    development targets

  • Assess trainee performance in accordance with Cambridge criteria and centre guidelines

  • Contribute to assessor meetings, standardisation, and continuous quality improvement

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation (e.g. CELTA 5) for all trainees

  • Collaborate with the course administrators, other trainers and the Senior Teacher Trainer to ensure course consistency and a positive learning environment



Key Selection Criteria



Education and Experience



  • Cambridge-approved CELTA Trainer (Main Course Tutor status desirable)

  • Cambridge DELTA, Trinity DipTESOL or MA TESOL

  • Min 10 hours of TP 2025 standardisation completion certificate

  • Recognised Bachelor degree

  • Demonstrated experience in adult ESL teaching & Teacher Training in a range of contexts

  • Excellent understanding of TESOL methodology, programs, curriculum design, and 
    assessment practices

  • Experience with online learning management systems and multimodal delivery

  • Demonstrated focus on continuous professional development (English Australia CPD Framework and NEAS CPD Points highly regarded)

  • Commitment to maintaining Cambridge standards of training and assessment
