Job Description - Chef

We have a permanent full time opportunity working at Oats Street - Transitional Rehabiliation facility located in East Victoria Park.

The Chef is responsible for ensuring a high-quality dining experience provided to our clients. Work with on site Allied Health practitioners and dietitians to support clients learning skills related to menu preparation and cooking to develop a diverse range of meals that are nutritious, low cost and easy to prepare

To be suitable for this role, you must possess:

  • Qualified as a cook with a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
  • Significant experience working as a cook or chef.
  • Familiarity with texture modified diets and International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) guidelines.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a small kitchen, supervising staff and working within budgetary guidelines, in a hospitality or aged care environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of, and demonstrated experience in, the practical application Food Safety Guidelines and current legislation in relation to hygiene regulations for food areas and equipment.
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work unsupervised, as well as the ability to work collaboratively as a flexible team member, responding positively to challenges and changes.
  • Previous experience working in a care services environment (desirable).

You will also possess:

  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening (required if successful)
  • Satisfactory National Police Certificate obtained within the last 12 months.
