About the role The Chief Investigator is EPA’s most senior criminal investigator, responsible for leading the Environmental Crime Branch to deliver intelligence-led investigations into environmental crime (relating to pollution and waste), proactively targeting high risk offenders to systematically identify and prevent environmental harm from occurring and ensuring that those that break environmental laws are held to account. Reporting to the Executive Director, Operations, this senior technical specialist role builds and leads teams through change to ensure a positive organisational culture and the highest standards of performance and integrity are achieved. Ensuring a robust, transparent, risk and evidence-based approach, this role provides expert advice, data and support on environmental crime matters to the Governing Board, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Senior Executive Committee to ensure the success of the EPA as a modern regulator.
About you You are an experienced senior leader of criminal investigations. You have a proven track record of successfully leading multiple concurrent and complex investigations. You are innovative and strategic, forecasting challenges and identifying opportunities. You have a deep understanding of government, policy and regulatory making processes, and demonstrate a sophisticated approach to stakeholder engagement to foster genuine partnerships. You are a motivating and empowering leader, experienced in leading through change. Your effectiveness as a leader comes from your collaborative nature and ability to influence at all levels.
