Job Description - Classroom Teacher - St Clare of Assisi Primary School, Conder ACT

Location: Conder, ACT 
Employment Type: Permanent  
Employment Status: Full-time and Part-time positions available   
Salary Range: $76,754 to $126,236 (based on skills and experience) plus superannuation (paid pro rata for part-time appointments) 
Start Date: Monday, 22 July 2024
Closing Date: 11.55 pm, Thursday 4 July 2024

About the Role
St Clare of Assisi Primary School is currently seeking to appoint enthusiastic Teachers who are driven to join a team of innovative and passionate professionals who will nurture each child’s talents and gifts.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Create a learning environment which stimulates learning and promotes excellence, and which accepts and acknowledges the needs of students to be both challenged and supported.
  • Use a variety of proven, high impact teaching and learning techniques to meet individual needs as far as is possible.
  • Identify learner needs, conferring with specialist staff in the school when necessary.
  • Maintain professional confidentiality on information about students.
  • Be proficient in the use of IT as a teaching and administrative tool.
  • Plan, prepare, record, and evaluate work to be undertaken by classes.
  • Mark and assess students’ work and keep complete and accurate records of each student’s progress.
  • Communicate with and establish effective and cooperative working relationships with all colleagues.
  • Work with colleagues to review and develop the curriculum and write course documents.
  • Undertake regular professional development, such as reading and attending courses, for the development of knowledge and skills on a personal basis, to consider current developments relevant to the needs of students and the requirements of the curriculum.

Qualifications  

  • Must hold a relevant Working with Children registration and Teaching Accreditation.
  • Must have completed a relevant Education/Teacher tertiary qualification. 

Selection Criteria 

  1. A thorough knowledge of the Australian Curriculum with the ability to organise, select and design content for effective teaching and learning.
  2. Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage positively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  3. The capacity to be a proactive member of a professional learning community complying with the legal, administrative, and professional requirements.
  4. Classroom practices and organisational skills that create supportive and safe environments for all students, including meeting a variety of learning needs.
  5. A comprehensive understanding of assessment and reporting strategies and the need to provide effective and timely feedback to parents and students.
  6. Knowledge of St Clare of Assisi’s vision for learning; inclusive of our Catalyst learning approach.

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.
