Award winning aged provider of luxury Residential Aged Care facilities is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse to join their team on the Sunshine Coast.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Current AHPRA registration and practising certificate;
Current Police Clearance;
Committed to the provision of quality care for the aged;
Recent experience in Aged Care Sector, preferred;
Sound knowledge of contemporary nursing theory and best practice;
Knowledge of Quality Standards, WH&S requirements, ACFI, Aged Care Act and Principles;
Minimum of 3 yearsâ post-graduate experience, preferred.
SUMMARY OF POSITION & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the direct delivery of comprehensive clinical care to residents, according to their individual needs, and for oversight of same;
Provides support, leadership and direction to team of nurses, in consultation with senior staff and Residential Services Manager;
Accountable and responsible for own actions and for overall supervision of all levels of direct and indirect care and clinical staff, to ensure the highest standards of resident care and service is achieved;
Accountable to the Site Manager of the Facility, and duty to obey any reasonable directions from each;
Responsible for carrying out all clinical tasks in accordance with professional duties, Codes of Ethics, legislative requirements, Quality Standards and nursing best practice;
Ensure that all necessary and relevant information or feedback concerning residents, their families/representatives or staff is communicated to the Site Manager, in a private and confidential manner;
Work within his/her level of competence;
Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement process;
Actively participate in Organisational focus groups, education and meetings;
Ensure accurate and comprehensive writing of clinical documentation and appropriate use of clinical software.
CLINICAL PRACTICE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Clinical Nurse is required to:
Undertake, manage and oversee a range of key direct care activities, including providing, monitoring and evaluating:
Nursing care procedures;
Care Assessments, Care Plans and Care Reviews;
Behavioural management;
Appropriate dementia care and palliative care including complex pain management;
Medication administration and management;
Infection prevention and control programs;
Demonstrate a planned and systematic approach to quality care delivery and best outcomes for residents;
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the requirements for meeting the Aged Care Quality Standards, as well as the Aged Care Funding Instrument;
Plan residentâs clinical care, based on assessed needs in consultation with the resident, representatives and other staff;
Maintain and promote the rights and dignity of residents by demonstrating a caring and compassionate approach in the delivery of person-centred care;
Ensure that care supports a residentâs right to exercise choice and independence to the extent that this can be safely managed;
Ensure that there is ongoing assessment, planning, review and evaluation of residents, having regard to any religious, cultural, sexual or other preferences;
Act as a resident advocate to assist in informed decision-making;
SUPERVISORY & LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate expertise and act as a mentor when providing clinical care and services;
Supervise, direct and educate where necessary Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Personal Care Staff and Indirect Workers to ensure that staff adhere to best practice, professional obligations and Quality Standards;
Work collaboratively as part of the clinical care team and value the contributions of other health care professionals and allied services;
Promote the exchange of professional knowledge and skills amongst other Registered Nurses in encouraging staff development;
Attend and actively participate in all relevant staff meetings.
OTHER:
Monitor compliance with SIRS obligations and adverse incident reporting practices;
Use human and material resources economically and effectively;
Adhere to the Code of Conduct at all times, and all the organisations internal policies, procedures and guidelines and ensure clinical team is following same;
Attend in-service education programs and workshops and ensure the AHPRA CPD requirements are complied with;
Undertake all practice in accordance with the Quality Standards and management directives;
Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with Work Health & Safety requirements;
Act to minimise the risk of injury and illness to self and others;
Report unsafe practices or hazards to Management;
Report any staff, resident or relative feedback through appropriate channels and escalate issues to Management as appropriate;
Participate in audits and provide reports to relevant authorities in a timely manner;
Effectively manage workplace incidents, accidents and emergencies;
Undertake tasks in accordance with your Duty Statement and any other reasonable direction or function as required by the Site Manager, Clinical Manager or Corporate Management.
