Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital
We now have the opportunity for an internal Caregiver to express their interest in joining our dynamic Outpatient nursing team as a Clinical Nurse. We are a very busy and multidisciplinary serviced department offering a number of clinics and we are keen to hear from highly motivated registered /clinical nurses who pride themselves in the delivery of high standard patient care.
The role of Clinical Nurse in outpatients requires someone with strong leadership skills who is able to confidently coordinate the team, able to manage competing priorities and be a clinical resource to a wider multi-disciplinary team within the department.
The Position
Supervises nursing practice and takes responsibility for standard of nursing care delivered.
Acts a clinical resource, maintains and develops clinical skills relevant to area of practice.
Initiates reviews and coordinates care of patients with complex health problems.
Actively contributes to the development of clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty.
Ensures documentation meets hospital standards and legal requirements.
Is aware of and works in accordance with SGJHC policies and procedures, including Equal Employment Opportunity, Confidentiality and Privacy.
Coordinates the department effectively ensuring continuity of care, and takes action on problems encountered.
Participates in the performance management of caregivers in conjunction with the Nurse Manager.
Supervises the practice of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Patient Care Assistants.
Encourages the development of relationships with all hospital and visiting staff, which promote a harmonious working environment.
You will hold registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse with significant and recent post-registration experience and the ability to practice at an advanced level. You will have well-developed leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, give direction and delegate to the team.
To succeed you will have the ability to plan, assess and develop team and individual performance as well as the ability to identify and solve problems including conflict resolution. You will have demonstrated commitment to personal ongoing education and professional development, commitment to nursing and other clinical projects that are implemented to improve patient care and a high level of communication skills. Knowledge of relevant acts, codes and standards relevant to current practice is essential.
The successful candidate will preferably have experience in the delivery of the following nursing services but not limited to;
• Fracture clinic -This includes plastering skills and application of various splints,
• Gynaecological Clinic - Knowledge in minor procedures is required
• Wound clinic - Assessing and provision of care for simple and complex wound dressings
• Trial of Void Clinics - Including catheterisations and bladder scanning

Salary: $109,599 to $115,682 pro rata, plus 12 superannuation
