Your role at St John of God Midland Private Hospital
Responsible for the promotion and maintenance of clinical standards after-hours to ensure the delivery of patient centred care and to achieve optimal patient outcomes within allocated resources whilst supporting and promoting the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care (SJGHC).
The Position
Through effective leadership and the application of advanced clinical skills this position is responsible for the maintenance of excellence in clinical care delivery standards to positively impact the patients’ journey after hours.
Improving and maintaining standards, developing solutions and delivering outcomes consistent with service and organisational imperatives and targets.
Ensure that areas of responsibility meet the requirement for delivery of a patient centred service against key performance indicators and in accordance with the Mission and Values of SJGHC.
Manage staffing resources after hours to ensure appropriate staffing levels for activity per department including flexing staff levels to meet fluctuations in activity, redeployment of nursing staff and sick leave replacement.
Coordination of all Nursing Agency staff including bookings and performance feedback.
Work as a member of the emergency response team after-hours and responds to all emergency codes.
As the senior nursing caregiver is expected to negotiate patient care with medical and allied health professionals and other agencies as required
Undertake rounds of all clinical areas of the hospital, in order to facilitate planning for and response to clinical and patient flow requirements of this shift.
Undertake and participates in the clinical deterioration rounds with the Multidisciplinary team.
Act as clinical resource for all nursing, and where appropriate, other caregivers.
Control the issuing of drugs from Unit/Pharmacy stock and is responsible for organising on-call Pharmacist for emergency drugs not available as stock.
Investigate, respond to and report on customer suggestions and complaints.
Support and coordinate the delivery of patient care throughout the hospital in the absence of ward and departmental managers.
Make recommendations on current nursing practice and identify strategies to improve efficiency and the quality of service to patients.
Establishes and maintain communication which facilitates a professional and constructive relationship with Medical Practitioners and all service providers.
Accountable for the effective management of human and material resources and environmental safety after hours to maintain the delivery of patient care.
Assume the senior management role in the absence of the Director of Nursing and Chief Executive Officer as appropriate.
Advises executive of bed or staff shortages and other events which impact on the hospital.
As the afterhours Emergency Response Commander is responsible for all emergency management and initial code response until the Hospital Incident Commander directs them to stand down.
Coordinate and assist in the transfer of deceased patients as required after hours.
Convene and participate in meetings/committees relevant to position.
All other reasonable duties as directed by the relevant Manager/Supervisor.
You will hold current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and demonstrate advanced and relevant clinical skills.
To succeed you will have contemporary management and leadership experience in a senior nursing position in an acute hospital facility.
About the new Midland Private Hospital
A brand-new purpose-built state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction, located just 300 metres from the St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Campus.
A comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, with interventional cardiology being offered for the first time in the region
The hospital will feature:
96 overnight inpatient beds, including a six bed critical care/high dependency unit
33 bed/chair short stay and day procedure unit
Eight operating theatres
A cardiac/vascular catheter laboratory
We can offer you
Salary: $137,294 (pro rata for part time) plus 12% superannuation
Permanent part time position
