Job Description:

  • Role Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Role Type: Permanent, Full-time
  • Department and Location: Hutchinson Ward, The Mater hospital, North Sydney
  • Salary: 62.21 AUD base per hour.

About The Role:

  • Provide advanced, evidence‑based nursing care to patients cardiac, vascular and renal conditions.
  • Demonstrate clinical leadership and act as a resource and role model for nursing staff.
  • Contribute to care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, audits, and implementation of clinical guidelines.
  • Participate in education, mentoring, and skill development of nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with medical, allied health, and nurse management teams.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.

About You:

Essential Criteria

  • Current AHPRA registration.
  • Minimum 4 years’ post‑registration nursing experience, with substantial experience in Interventional cardiac and/or cardiothoracic nursing.
  • Team Leader coordinator.
  • Experience in Telemetry, Cardiac monitoring, or Acute Coronary syndromes.
  • Approved postgraduate qualifications relevant to cardiac nursing or working towards.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and decision‑making in cardiac care.
  • Commitment to patient‑centred care, safety, and continuous quality improvement.

Desirable Criteria

  • Compilation of rosters.
  • Policy review.
  • Involvement in clinical education, research, or quality improvement activities.
  • Risk man investigation.

About The Mater:

In this role you will be based at the Mater hospital, North Sydney.

  • One of Sydney’s premier private hospitals.
  • Close by to train stations at North Sydney, St Leonards, and Crows Nest, and buses on Pacific Highway.
  • The only Australian hospital that is a member of the International Society of Orthopaedic Centres.
  • Core specialties include Obstetrics, Orthopaedics including hip and knee joint replacements, bone and sports injuries, cardiology, cancer care and surgery, lung and vascular medicine, ear, nose and throat surgery, urology, endocrine surgery, and neurosurgery.
