Great opportunity to be an integral part of the Drug and Alcohol Team at our Immigration Detention Centre clinic at Broadmeadows, VIC.

The Role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) (Drug & Alcohol) role at the Immigration Detention Facilities is an integral part of IHMS’ Drug and Alcohol team. Key responsibilities:

Clinical leadership and ongoing improvement and review of triage, treatment planning for patients on opiod substitution treatment program (OSTP)

Provide clinical resource and advanced support and liaison at a local level on matters relating to D&A

Facilitation and liaison with local and external stakeholders/service providers to ensure continuity of care

Specialist assessment and management of withdrawal states, pharmacotherapies, intoxication and overdose states

Provide assistance to local and centralised leadership teams to ensure smooth operation of D&A related care and services

Requirements

Current AHPRA Registration as a Div. 1 Registered Nurse

Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience working with people with drug and alcohol use disorders in a D&A setting, including experience in opiod substitution treatment

Advanced clinical assessment skills and management of alcohol and drug issues

Good knowledge of harm minimisation principles

Current BLS or First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain it)
