Company Description

Healthcare Australia (HCA) is a major provider of healthcare services across Australia, including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training.

In December 2024, we began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions.  HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees.

Job Description

Lead. Innovate. Make a Difference.

Enjoy and hourly rate of $82.80 plus superannuation

We’re looking for a Clinical Team Leader to guide a multidisciplinary team delivering mental health and addiction care to individuals in immigration detention. In this role, you’ll combine clinical expertise with leadership skills, providing direct patient care, mentoring staff, and driving program development.

Join us in bringing a new approach to medical and wellbeing care for detainees by:

  • Delivering high-quality Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) services to detainees, ensuring care that respects dignity, culture, values, and rights.
  • Providing line management for the Mental Health and AOD primary health care team, while supporting the Health Service Manager to keep operations running smoothly. Your leadership will also extend to overseeing Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) Pharmacotherapy at the facility.
  • Identifying service delivery issues, driving change initiatives, and implementing sustainable, person-centred solutions that improve health outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, proactively engaging to resolve issues and enhance service delivery.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic planning.

Let’s talk about you:

You bring exceptional communication and leadership skills that build trust, inspires motivation, and fosters strong team engagement. Your ability to connect with others and lead with clarity and purpose sets the foundation for a cohesive and high-performing team. You are genuinely committed to creating and nurturing an inclusive, positive, and engaged team culture.

You demonstrate a solid understanding of healthcare regulations, standards of care, clinical governance, and quality improvement methodologies, essential for guiding your team and ensuring safe, high-quality service delivery.

You will hold relevant qualifications and experience, including a Bachelor of Nursing degree, along with a minimum of five years’ post-graduate clinical experience in a relevant healthcare setting and postgraduate qualification in mental health and/or AOD (AQF recognised).

Bring your passion for Primary Health Services and be rewarded with:

  • A chance to work within a well-respected Australian organization with over 1000 employees, including doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals.
  • Fancy a discount on BUPA Private health Insurance – 7%!
  • HCA recognises flexibility can improve employee wellbeing and provides all eligible office-based roles the opportunity to work from home on an informal basis.
  • Birthday leave – this is your paid, special day off to celebrate, relax and make the most of your birthday!

If you’re ready to lead, inspire, and make a real difference, apply now and help shape the future of mental health care in detention settings.

If you have any questions or further assistance about the role, please contact Ana Colina on [email protected]

Veterans are encouraged to apply. At HCA we are committed to embracing diversity and committed to providing a safe working environment.
