CNC/Metal Machinists

Our client Commonwealth Steel Company Pty Ltd t/a Molycop is looking for CNC/Metal Machinists.

This is a critical role to ensuring our manufacturing processes continues to the highest quality and productivity levels for our railway wheels. Machinists will be required to carry out Machining tasks in the department both CNC and manual machining.

Responsibility, task or duty

• Responsibilities & Accountabilities of this position (OH&S etc.) are as detailed in Mechanical Trades Roles, Responsibilities & Accountabilities Matrix.
• Work closely with the Team Leader to maintain production schedules, through effective machining functioning.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances
• Perform machine set up including tooling, fixturing and part setting for scheduled jobs and meeting production requirements
• Operate large machinery to produce train wheels and axles
• Operate large lathes and horizontal borers
• Access supply and maintenance management computer systems to locate spares, work order information, drawings in support of maintenance activities.
• Perform all tasks relating to the operation of pendant controlled cranes including slinging of loads.
• Maintain tools and equipment including monitoring equipment and machine conditions and diagnosing/reporting faults.
• Perform regular machine maintenance and general cleaning duties required in the course of operating and equipment repairs.
• Operate vertical borers
• Operate drills and millers
• Utilize trade cross skilling to work flexibly as a Mechanical Trades Person.
• Collaborate with Engineers and other production employees to resolve machining challenges.

Qualifications

• Cert III or IV in Engineering (Fitting & Machining)
• Experience with both CNC and manual machines
• Ability to meet deadlines
• High attention to detail
