As a Coach Developer with AFL Northern Territory, you will play an important role in strengthening community football by helping coaches create positive, player-centred environments where participants can learn, develop and thrive.

This casual position focuses on supporting community coaches and clubs through coach education, mentoring, facilitation and reflective learning within real coaching environments. Working closely with the AFL Northern Territory Coach Education Lead and fellow Coach Developers, you will help improve coaching capability and contribute to the long-term growth and quality of community football programs across the region.

This role is all about supporting coaches to build confidence, capability and stronger coaching environments across community football.

You’ll add value through:

  • Supporting the delivery and development of community club coaching programs across all levels of participation

  • Delivering engaging coach learning experiences through education, facilitation, mentoring, assessment and reflective practice

  • Working directly with club coaches within their coaching environments to identify individual learning and development needs

  • Helping clubs improve the overall quality and consistency of their coaching environments

  • Promoting player-centred coaching approaches that support positive experiences and behavioural change

  • Increasing awareness and access to AFL coach education and learning resources within community clubs

  • Aligning with AFL-endorsed coach development programs and frameworks

  • Building strong working relationships with clubs, coaches and key stakeholders across the football community

  • Contributing to a collaborative and connected Coach Developer network through regular communication and knowledge sharing

  • Supporting the broader success of AFL Northern Territory coaching initiatives across the region

What you’ll bring

  • Level 2/Gold Level AFL Coaching Accreditation

  • Minimum 3 years’ coaching experience across a range of age groups and levels

  • Demonstrated coaching expertise and a strong understanding of community football environments

  • Ability to deliver engaging, high-quality coach development experiences

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to educate, influence and build trust with coaches and stakeholders

  • Proven ability to build positive working relationships internally and externally

  • Sound administration skills and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team

  • Commitment to ongoing learning and continuous improvement in coaching practice

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate meaningful coaching conversations

  • Capacity to work outside standard business hours when required

  • Current Driver’s Licence
