Job Description - Collections Manager


Team Global Express (TGE) are seeking a highly experienced Collections Manager to join INTEGRATED Business Services team based in St Kilda Road. You will report directly to the Head of Finance Services and contribute towards establishing processes for monitoring and collecting outstanding debtor balances. You will ensure that cash collections (including cashflow management) are maximised, losses minimised, and customer goodwill maintained, and you will focus on debtor reporting, meeting agreed collection targets and monitoring lines of credit and customer terms.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive forecasting, budget setting, delivery, and reporting for the function
  • Prepare, maintain, and execute TGE strategy in reference to global and domestic benchmarks.
  • Identify key business opportunities in established and emerging functions, risks, and issues, recommending responses.
  • Lead and shape a best in class (Top quartile) operating culture aligned to TGE values, operating standards, and target state outcomes (including performance)
  • Promote a winning culture focused on outcomes, continuous improvement, and distinctive Customer Experience
  • Maintain stability and performance of business services within SLA and Target bands.
  • Lead and manage third party Collections agencies and BPO’s
  • Daily customer monitoring and management of overdue and underlying practices
  • Assist in defining the cashflow forecast as it relates to Collections activities.
  • Work closely with the Team Global Express shared services team and work closely with business unit finance teams’ team to ensure a shared team culture
  • Support the Head of Finance Services in management and strategic decision-making, with a particular focus on the development of the Credit function and coordination with the Sales & Marketing function.
  • Team Leadership; including, coaching, mentoring, cross skilling, performance management and team development.
  • Manage service levels and oversee the achievement of agreed service level agreements (SLA) and key performance indicators (KPI) targets
  • Develop and implement segment-based collections and treatment strategies including defining automation enablement as required
  • Establish service and process performance and reporting measures to provide an effective basis for decision-making and performance management, managing stop trade including risk management.

What you’ll bring

  • A passion to develop best practice teams, along with a continuous improvement, customer centric mindset will set you apart. You will bring a On-time Payment mindset and attitude, including;
  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Leadership of similar function in a large scale and diverse product/systems organisation (Blue Chip or Global)
  • Exposure/experience in managing outsourced providers.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience developing and tracking KPIs. Also, creativity to seek, encourage and find non-traditional approaches
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline in business, finance (e.g., B. Bus/Comm)
  • Professional membership of relevant associations
  • Leadership (strategic though to operational) via your frontline leaders in large, diverse, and/or global organisation (Large Transport/Logistics, Energy, Telecommunications, or comparable industry).
  • Working knowledge of collections across industries and nationally
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor and develop staff
