Commercial Lead / Manager

Wood is recruiting a Commercial Lead to join its Operations business supporting energy clientele in the Asia Pacific (APAC) West region.  This is a permanent role within the Commercial team based in Perth, Western Australia.

Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you will be a service line focal point, providing direction and leadership for all commercial personnel and covering all corporate and project commercial deliverables throughout both pre and post contract activities.  In this fast-paced role, you will partner with a diverse range of stakeholders, including operational and functional teams, to support commercial risk management, enhance project delivery and maximise value creation for Wood.

Your deliverables and responsibilities will include:

• Role modelling Wood’s vision, values, and behaviours including promoting safe working practices within commercial function
• Implementation commercial strategy for the Business Unit within assigned project / sub business unit and ensures alignment of objectives to the business unit strategy
• Managing and providing team members with general direction in commercial activities during the contract life cycle from input into tenders through contract delivery to contract commercial closeout
• Governance, implementation and delivery of key policies and procedures including Financial Management Framework and Tender Governance Procedures
• Aligning project / sub business units’ specific commercial requirements with WOOD commercial processes and procedures and communicate to relevant personnel
• Carrying out commercial compliance review for assigned project / sub business unit
• Liaising with various internal customers with regards to commercial management, risk reviews, corporate reporting, and contractual discussions
• Liaising with various external interfaces (Clients, Sub-Contractors, Suppliers) with regards to tendering, contractual discussions, progress meetings
• Resourcing competent commercial personnel to assigned project / sub business unit
• Managing and supervising personnel development and training of designated commercial team
• Delivering Commercial Presentations to both internal and external stakeholders
• Reporting to the corporate function, ensuring all commercial procedures are followed and reviewed

Qualifications:

• Ideally, an undergraduate degree in business administration, commerce, quantity surveying, or similar discipline.  Professional qualifications desirable but not essential.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years’ experience in a similar leadership/management role
• Proven experience in negotiation, claims & dispute resolution with clients and suppliers
• Proven experience in drafting and interpretation of contractual documentation
• Demonstrated competency in change management
