Commercial Officer Your new company We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Commercial Officer to join our team. This role plays a critical part in managing commercial and major corporate customer accounts, with a strong focus on debt collection, cash flow improvement and customer relationship management. You will work closely with Sales and Operations teams to ensure accurate billing, compliant credit management, and timely settlement of accounts.
Your new role As a Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial administration of commercial customer accounts, ensuring invoices are accurate, accounts are reconciled, and outstanding debts are followed up professionally and efficiently.You will be proactive in identifying issues, improving processes, and supporting internal and external stakeholders to deliver positive commercial and customer outcomes.
Manage a portfolio of commercial and corporate customer accounts
Set up new customer accounts and maintain existing account information
Prepare and issue accurate invoices and statements in a timely manner
Reconcile accounts, including payments, credits, adjustments, and discrepancies
Proactively manage debt collection and negotiate payment arrangements where required
Assist with credit assessments and ongoing review of customer creditworthiness
Investigate and resolve billing issues, customer disputes, and payment discrepancies
Ensure customers are operating within agreed trading terms
Collaborate closely with Sales and Branch Operations teams to ensure billing accuracy and account compliance
Prepare reports on account performance, trends, and risks
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer service
What you'll need to succeed
Experience in a commercial, credit, or accounts receivable role
Strong understanding of invoicing, collections, and account reconciliation
Ability to analyse financial information and assess credit risk
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Proven ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines
Customer-focused mindset with problem-solving capability
Proficiency in accounting/ERP systems and Microsoft Office
Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements (desirable)
