Commis Chef - Casual

The hotel features 190 rooms and apartments, a fully equipped conference centre, restaurant and bar.  Offering impeccable service and a welcoming atmosphere, Batman’s Hill on Collins is the ideal venue for guests visiting the city for leisure or work.

We are looking for a casual Commis Chef to assist our kitchen operations during busy periods, across breakfast, lunch and dinner shifts as well as conferences and events. Experience in a hotel or similar environment, working rights in Australia, and flexibility to pick up shifts at short notice are required. • Food preparation for breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service, functions and buffet service.
• Ensure all food is produced in line with kitchen recipes and standards
• Assist and communicate with chef on duty as required
• Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment whilst ensuring a product of high quality and presentation standards. 
• Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage and follow stock control procedures
• Keep all working areas clean and tidy and ensure all equipment is maintained, serviced and cleaned.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with front-of-house staff
• Hospitality Award base rate of $27.17 per hour plus casual loading ($33.96 per hour base rate)

• Must have Australian working rights and flexibility to work varied shifts Monday to Sunday as required
• Relevant trade qualification
• Ability to work as part of a small team and to prioritise and plan tasks
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Commitment to hygiene, safety standards, and food handling regulations
