Aboriginal Family Legal Services (ICN 7333) aims to provide free, culturally secure, legal and support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims and survivors of family violence and/or sexual assault.
Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is identified under Section 50(D) of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act. AFLS seeks to recruit an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander into this position.
We are seeking a full-time Community Engagement Worker (50d Position) in our Geraldton office.
Who are Aboriginal Family Legal Services (AFLS):
AFLS is an Aboriginal controlled not-for-profit organisation that provides both legal and non-legal support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims and survivors of family violence. Our services are delivered in the Kimberly, Pilbara, Mid-West, Goldfields, and Perth Metropolitan.
About the role:
The Community Engagement role forms a liaison between victims of Aboriginal family violence and the services provided by AFLS. You will work with our legal team to ensure that our clients are receiving culturally secure legal assistance. You will also be working within the community to build awareness of our service and deliver educational programs. There is also regular travel to surrounding areas.
