Job Description - Compliance Specialist - Governance

Description

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Compliance Specialist, Governance, you’ll play an important role in helping Australian Retirement Trust maintain a strong, practical, and well-governed approach to compliance.

You’ll support the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of our Compliance Management Framework, with a focus on compliance obligations management. You’ll help keep our obligations register current and accurate, work with teams across the business to understand the impact of regulatory change, and support clear implementation plans so obligations are met within required timeframes.

This is a great opportunity to bring your compliance governance experience to a purpose-led organisation where your work will help protect our members and support confident decision-making across the business.

This role is a 12 month fixed-term contract opportunity and can be based in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne.

Responsibilities
  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of Australian Retirement Trust’s Compliance Management Framework.
  • Establish and maintain governance structures for compliance obligation management.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance obligations register covering applicable laws, regulations, standards, and industry codes.
  • Keep obligation information current, accurate, and aligned to regulatory changes.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of obligation sources and requirements.
  • Work with business teams to help evidence compliance with relevant obligations.
  • Monitor upcoming regulatory developments and assess their impact on existing obligations.
  • Coordinate with business units to validate obligation applicability.
  • Support the development of implementation plans for new or changed compliance obligations.
  • Monitor implementation activity to help ensure obligations are met within required timeframes.
  • Support Regulatory Affairs with communications about regulatory changes and implications for relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Your experience includes superannuation compliance, financial services compliance, or another highly regulated environment.
  • You'll bring strong knowledge of superannuation legislation, including the SIS Act, Corporations Act, APRA prudential standards, and ASIC regulatory guides.
  • You're experienced in compliance governance processes and obligation management.
  • You enjoy working with stakeholders to understand requirements, clarify expectations, and support practical compliance outcomes.
  • Your approach is open-minded, adaptable, and focused on continuous learning.
  • You'll bring curiosity and sound judgement when interpreting regulatory change and its impact on the business.
