About the role: With significant client focus on Corporate Governance & proxy voting, the role will require not only Operational expertise i.e. a knowledge of event processing & query resolution but also an understanding of the strategic & Risk & Control elements of the Proxy function. Responsibilities will therefore focus heavily on monitoring any areas of potential risk & improving the overall business model.
There will be extensive daily interaction with NT's 3rd party global proxy vendor. Vendor Management will also form an important part of the role.
The key responsibilities of the role include: - Manage and monitor relationship with vendor, ensuring KPI standards are maintained.
- Cultivate strong working relationship with Vendor, Investment manager and client contacts.
- Participate in meetings with clients, Investment Managers & Third-Party Vote Agents, providing updates and overviews as required.
- Manage & analyze overvote scenarios.
- Ensure prompt & accurate resolution all Proxy voting & Governance issues referred to the department.
- Maintain departmental databases.
- Provide back up as needed for all functions within the area.
- Monitor and disseminate information relating to market changes in voting procedure.
Skills/ Qualifications: - The ideal candidate will have a strong background in proxy voting or corporate event processing. They should be familiar with Industry initiatives & Governance Directives
- They must be able to work well under pressure & have excellent communication skills as there is a significant amount of direct client contact.
- They must be able to work both independently & also cooperatively within a small team.
- Ideally, they will be able to accommodate occasional calls & meetings outside of Australian working hours to collaborate/communicate with the global proxy teams in other locations.
