About the role 


Barwon MHDAS currently have permanent part time opportunities suitable for recently graduated or experienced Addiction Psychiatrists within our DAS team.


The DAS team provides high quality best practice assessment and treatment to adult patients experiencing difficulties with substance use.


You will join a high-performing, passionate clinical team dedicated to delivering essential support to individuals and families navigating alcohol and drug challenges. Operating within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework, this role provides the scope to exert independent clinical judgement while working alongside a supportive network of healthcare professionals. The service prioritises person-centred care, clinical governance, and continuous quality improvement. Based in the Barwon region, the position offers direct avenues for professional growth, peer collaboration, and the opportunity to contribute significantly to the development of public and private sector clinical initiatives. The breadth of positions across the directorate means we can provide psychiatrists with career opportunities and working arrangements that can suit their individual circumstances and professional goals.


 


Key requirements of the role are:



  • Deliver highly collaborative, patient-centred care across a multidisciplinary network, combining strong clinical autonomy with excellent regional lifestyle benefits.



  • Exercise independent clinical judgement in an outpatient public pharmacotherapy programme and provide secondary consultation to GPs in the MATOD programme.

  • Collaborate within a highly integrated service and statewide network focused on innovation and evidence-based care.



  • Provide clinical governance and leadership in the provision of high-quality psychiatric services to consumers.

  • Act as a delegate of the authorised Psychiatrist as defined in the Mental Health Act 2022 and contribute to the Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Program of the service.

  • Applicants must hold the FRANZCP, be accredited as a supervisor by the RANZCP, and be registered with general or specialist medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
