Café Strada, located in stunning central Cairns, is a fabulous Breakfast, Lunch and special functions café business looking for our next cook to join the team full-time. Key Responsibilities:-Examining food productions to ensure the high standard of quality is continuing to be met. -Ensuring that equipment such as ovens, grills and other cooking equipment is regulated at correct temperatures. -Consistently preparing, cooking and seasoning food to ensure the same end product/dish every time in accordance with any special dietary requirements. -Guaranteeing presentation of food is up to cafe standards including portioning food, placing on plates, adding gravies, sauces, and garnishes.-Keeping up the health and hygiene standards, making certain food is being stored in correct temperature-controlled facilities.-Potentially plan menus and estimate any food requirements for the café. -Support the kitchen team with effective time management to ensure timely meal preparation.Requirements: -AQF Certificate III including 2 years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV-Minimum of 3 years proven work experience in a similar role -Understands the importance of safe working conditions, food storage and correct food handling techniques. -Ability to follow instructions, with recipes, measure, assemble ingredients and manage dietary requirements.-Collaboration skills to excel in a fast-paced kitchen environment, working alongside a team to meet production targets.-Up-to-date culinary skills/trends and kitchen processes.
