About the opportunity:
The Northern Outreach Team [NOT] actively engages people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to assist them to gain and maintain sustainable housing and other supports. The program works in partnership with other services to keep people safe, build rapport, and engage them with the broader service system and their community. This support may be provided in a range of environments including emergency accommodation, transitional housing or via assertive outreach to clients experiencing housing crisis.

The Coordinator – Northern Outreach oversees a team of case managers and is responsible for ensuring that the support provided to clients is consistent, effective and maximises the client’s capacity to gain and maintain suitable housing, health, wellbeing and connections to community. The Northern Outreach Coordinator may also manage programs and projects within the Outreach Housing Supports service area as required.

The Northern Outreach Coordinator also ensures that the requirements of relevant transitional support and other funding agreements are met and other activities associated with the needs of the organisation are completed.

Coordinators ensure that their teams are well informed about Launch happenings, especially where it relates directly to their team’s work. Their messaging is consistent with Launch Housing’s values and supports initiatives developed by all areas of the business.

Coordinators support their staff by role modelling the Launch Housing Values, being approachable, and ensuring that every team member has a development plan and attends all relevant training for their role. They support staff performance through regular supervision and feedback, and use mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow where appropriate. They set clear and fair performance expectations for their team, including setting appropriate boundaries around client work to keep their staff safe. They know what resources are available to them and how to make the best use of them.

When leading their teams through change they communicate the vision for the change with their teams in a positive manner, listening to staff concerns and addressing them where possible. They encourage their staff to be innovative and support practice improvements through a continuous quality improvement lens. 

Permanent full-time position (76 hours per fortnight) based at Collingwood.

What you'll be doing:

    • Engagement scores for the service area are equal to, or better than, Launch average.
    • Providing leadership in line with the Launch Housing Leadership Capability Framework to ensure the provision of consistent and high-quality services and outcomes for clients.
    • Turnover for the service area is below or in line with industry averages.
    • Professional development plans and supervision processes are in place and delivered consistently for all staff within the service area.
    • Leading a strong safety focus for all teams within the service area (including physical and psychological safety). 

What we're looking for (key selection criteria):

    • A tertiary qualification in human services, social work or other relevant discipline.
    • Demonstrated understanding of housing and homelessness policy, context and systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others towards effective client solutions.
    • Experience supporting staff who work with people with complex needs.
    • Proven ability to provide supervision that is supportive and promotes professional development and accountability.
    • Leadership qualities including a high degree of initiative and analytical skills.
    • Well-developed organisational and time management skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
    • Demonstrated commitment to the values of Launch Housing and our mission to end homelessness. 
$57.39 - $59.94 an hour
+ Superannuation
