About the Role

Based at our Heatherbrae site, the Cost Accountant role reports to the Head of Finance and Business Control, and is responsible for developing and maintaining the group’s standard costing, including regular reviewing of manufacturing efficiencies and variances and subsequent updates to the standard costs as required.

Core duties include, but are not limited to:

• Developing and maintaining standard costs of manufactured inventory items and provided services using full absorption cost methodology (across all manufacturing entities, including Indonesia)
• Analysing manufacturing operations and resultant variances, and equipment availability and utilisation
• Working closely with management to determine opportunities to maximize profit and minimize waste e.g. scenario analysis
• Analysing the cost/financial impacts of potential improvements in product and process efficiencies (e.g. make vs buy decisions)
• Analysing, monitoring & reporting on cost-optimisation projects
• Assisting with preparing monthly management accounts, with particular focus on inventory reporting.
• Managing company inventory counts.
• Assist Head of Finance and Finance Manager with any other various day to day issues or projects.
   

About You

To be considered for this opportunity you will possess all the following attributes: 

Essential:

• Tertiary qualification in Finance or Accounting, to a standard satisfying requirements for professional accounting membership
• Proven experience as a Cost Account, Controller, Analyst or similar position
• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, such as Microsoft Navision BC
• Advanced MS Excel skills including lookups and pivot tables
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within Finance team and multitask
• High degree accuracy and attention to detail
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
• Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills
• Experience in Finance within Manufacturing industry

Desirable:

• Extensive experience in development of costing procedures
• Experience with business intelligence programs (i.e. Power BI)
• Experience with IFRS
