Counsellor - Sexuality, Relationships and Education

Are you an experienced Sexuality & Relationships counsellor able to support our customers to build their confidence and more understand who they are?Join our Sexuality, Relationships & Education team at Northcott in this rare, full time permanent opportunity.

The Sexuality and Relationships Counsellor is a distinctly unique role and one that upholds Northcott's values in every sense. Our Sexuality and Relationship Education service supports people with disability to achieve their Sexuality & Relationship goals and desires. The position combines both counsellor and educator in its roles and responsibilities. We offer a competitive salary and access to a wide range of Northcott benefits, including salary packaging.

The position involves:

  • Supporting the Sexuality and Relationships service including providing counselling, education and event facilitation;
  • Being person-centred and understanding the sensitivities around Sexuality and Relationships;
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times, respecting the individual differences and needs of customers;
  • Enable a safe, secure and trusting environment for all stakeholders.

About you:
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess or demonstrate the following:
• Tertiary qualifications - minimum Diploma in Counselling;
• Membership with the Australian Counselling Association or as a counsellor with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia as an accredited PACFA Registrant.
• Minimum of 2 years current and relevant industry experience in disability or health;
• Awareness of and alignment with Northcott's Values .
• Genuine, demonstrated interest in the Disability sector and education;
• High level of demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Our Sexuality and Relationship Education service for people with disability is the first of its kind to be offered by an Australian disability organisation. Developed following customer demand to lift the lid on taboo topics, our educational services have been created to support people with disability to achieve their sexuality and relationship goals and desires.
