The Role
As we continue to scale, we are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Credit Control Manager to join our North Sydney team. This is a unique opportunity for a detail-oriented and driven professional to oversee all facets of credit management for our retail energy clients. The ideal candidate will bring an in-depth understanding of energy regulations and collection processes, along with proven expertise in customer engagement and account retention.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and operate the end-to-end collections process, leveraging a multi-channel strategy to maximise effectiveness
- Serve as an expert in Customer Engagement and Retention programs within the energy retail sector, with a focus on driving customer satisfaction and loyalty
- Support the development of business plans that promote scalable commercial growth through efficient cash collection and optimised Retail Operations practices
- Ensure collection targets are met and collection service level agreements (SLAs) consistently achieves quality standards.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors, including collection agencies and recovery firms.
- Enforce strict compliance with collection regulations, aligning with ACCC, NERR, and ESC guidelines, including processes for reminders and disconnections.
- Handle escalated customer service issues, ensuring effective resolution while working closely with the Complaints team to address root causes and implement corrective measures.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and the implementation of best practices across the collections function.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the team adopts new technologies, methods, and systems to enhance efficiency and customer outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with customer protection regulations, specifically adhering to AER and state energy ombudsman guidelines to safeguard customer rights and fulfill obligations.
Your Background
You will bring the following:
- Bachelors' degree in business administration, finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience at an operational level in the utilities supply industry, preferable in retailing
- Proven experience in retail energy billing, collection, sales, customer service or a similar role within the energy sector, and experience in sales, customer service or account management
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent reporting-writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced SME environment.
