ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:

The sterilising department at East Melbourne services 11 Operating Theatres, Uro/Gynae Unit and some external customers. The Department covers a variety of specialties including Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Plastics, General surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Opthalmology & Breast surgery.

Responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to);

·         Collect, clean and decontaminate equipment used by the Operating Suite and Clinical units on a daily basis.

·         Load and unload ultrasonic, instrument washers, dryers and sterilisers according to instructions and general duties list.

·         Inspect and reassemble items as required.

·         Prepare, check and package instruments and loan sets to be sterilised.

·         Prepare operating theatre set-ups for the following days surgeries (desirable)

ABOUT YOU:

As an outstanding Instrument Technician, your skills will include:

·         Instrument technician qualification, Certificate III or IV (or equivalent) from an accredited institution

·         Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working as a Grade III Instrument Technician or 3 years as a Grade IV Instrument Technician

·         Must be able to undertake work of a more complex nature within established procedures and guidelines

·         Ability to rotate through all areas of the department

·         Must work a rotating roster (days, evenings & night shifts)

·         Experience in loans department and theatre set-ups desirable
