Senior Project Manager - Cybersecurity Transformation

• Location: Sydney, Hybrid Working
• Daily Rate: Up to $1,115 + Super
• Immediate Start

A leading tertiary education institution is embarking on a major cybersecurity transformation and is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead two critical workstreams currently in planning and discovery. This is an exceptional opportunity to drive meaningful uplift across governance, compliance, and application security in a diverse and complex environment.

About the Role
Reporting to the Cybersecurity Programme, the Senior Project Manager will oversee two primary streams of work:
Application & Vulnerability Remediation

• Oversee remediation activities across a portfolio of applications
• Drive uplift in application hardening and vulnerability reduction
• Ensure alignment to cybersecurity standards and frameworks (e.g. Essential Eight)

Crown Jewel Governance (GRC Project)

• Lead governance, risk, and compliance uplift related to crown-jewel systems
• Establish frameworks, controls, and risk management practices
• Partner with Cyber, Risk, Architecture, and business stakeholders to drive maturity
• You will work across a large, diverse, and distributed stakeholder group, ensuring alignment, clarity, and strong delivery across both technical and non-technical teams.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager delivering cybersecurity or security-adjacent projects
• Background in higher education is highly regarded and strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)
• Expertise in application remediation, vulnerability management, and application hardening
• Strong working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, including the Essential Eight
• Exceptional stakeholder management across complex organisational environments
• Ability to thrive in planning, discovery, and ambiguous early-stage project phases
• Immediate availability or short notice strongly preferred.
