Job Description - Cyber security engineering specialist

  • Feel part of supportive, knowledgeable team who've adopted a flexible approach to work
  • Develop yourself on a variety of interesting and challenging projects
  • Permanent, full-time opportunity based in our Leederville office

About the role:

Goals without plans are merely wishes.

In cyber security, threats and attacks don't end because you hope they will. That's why you need a plan. A plan that creates commitment, clear direction, action, performance standards and continuity.

As a member of our Cyber Security Engineering team, we'd like you to help us achieve some goals.

What the role will involve:

You're seen as the protector. The person at the forefront of shielding Water Corporation from advanced persistent threats and malicious attacks, usually associated with hacktivists and organised criminal groups.

Your days are interesting, varied and challenging. You will manage the day to day administration of security controls, provide guidance to mitigate threats and risks, evaluate the effectiveness and drive improvement of security capabilities as well as participate in our capability uplift program.

Using your knowledge and experience in cyber operations and as an engineer , you'll provide guidance on how to diminish risks across our systems in IT and OT.

Your latest thinking behind cyber security practices will ensure you can respond to incidents by analysing, containing and closing out events, so our systems aren't compromised. You'll also form an important part of our cyber security maturity program, ensuring the organisation continually uplifts its ability to deal with the everchanging complexity of threats.

What the role will offer:

Water Corporation's cyber plan is already under way, which means you won't be scratching your head and looking for things to do. The days of mothballing projects and providing justification to a business are long gone.

There's a stack of interesting projects to deliver, which will evolve and uplift the organisation's capability and maturity to deal with potential threats and attacks. It'll also give you plenty of scope to learn and sharpen your skills.

The work will test your grey matter, as it'll sit across 2m customers and 3,500 employees with an exposure to a full tech stack.

You'll be joining a supportive and diverse team, who'll have your back from day one. They embrace a flexible approach to work.

And if your current job lacks purpose, guess what? Your work here will help future generations get access to clean, running water every day.

What you'll bring to this role:

There are a few things that we'll look for on your CV. You'll have a tertiary qualification or a degree in an ICT related field as well as considerable experience managing, configuring and implementing cyber security applications, analysis practices and methods.

On top of this, you'll also have considerable exposure to business planning, system analysis and GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance). Throw in your experience with planning, design, acquisition or operational delivery of cyber security infrastructure, and you're good to go.

Apply: If you're someone who tries to make something better than it was yesterday, let's have a chat about your career goals. To register your interest, simply send us a copy of your CV, along with a cover letter outlining what you feel you can bring to this position.
