Job Description

Nine is hiring a Data Architect to join its Data Team to continue to make data a competitive advantage. As a Data Architect, you will work with key stakeholders to build high-performing data products, reduce the complexity of our data landscape and play a crucial role in managing and strategically planning Nine’s data architecture. You will partner with business stakeholders, product managers and data engineers and work across subject areas such as advertising, subscriptions and editorial. 

Responsibilites: 

• Design, implement, and manage consumption focused dimensional data models within a petabyte sized data platform. Specifically define how data is linked and how it flows in the system, ensuring the data models are optimised for both performance and storage.

• Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and design systems that support data-driven decision-making.

• Design and support the implementation of policies for data usage, data storage, data security, and data governance

• Promote self serve and help drive data literacy

• Define and promote data governance best practices to ensure data quality, consistency, and security.

• Provide data on industry trends, emerging technologies and modelling techniques, and new tool sets - we aren't afraid to experiment!

• Conduct data analysis and data profiling to discover data quality issues, data integration opportunities, and data enrichment opportunities.

• Mentoring data engineers on data modelling and data management

• Keep up ­to ­date with media and technology industry changes and stimulate discussion

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience as a Data Architect or Senior Data Engineer with strong knowledge and application of data modelling techniques

• Ability to understand business goals and requirements, and translate them into consumption focused data models

• Practical SQL and Python experience. Demonstrate experience in BigQuery or any other major data warehousing tool like Snowflake or Redshift.

• Experience with data analytics and reporting tools like Tableau, Looker or any other major data visualisation tools

• Experience working in agile development and delivery processes

• Experience in solution design, best practices and implementation

• A commitment to quality in your work

• Solid understanding of database structures, theories, principles & practices

• A strong commercial and customer focus, with a commitment to delivering outcomes for both

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
