About the Role: 

We are looking for a Data Director(Databricks) who is highly technical with lived experience across the modern data ecosystem, particularly delivering data platforms built on Databricks and lakehouse architecture.

The Data Director will lead data strategy sessions with our customers, design scalable data and AI solutions, and lead the successful delivery of complex engagements. You will operate as both a technical leader and people leader, with credibility across the data community, senior customer stakeholders, and the technology partner ecosystem.

You will have a proven track record of sales and delivery, with strong pre-sales consulting experience, where you are able to scope large programs of work and act as the trusted advisor that customers turn to when navigating modern data platform transformations.

While Databricks will be a core focus, you will bring broad expertise across the data ecosystem including data engineering, data platforms, analytics, ML and Generative AI.

What your day will look like: 

• Advising customers on their data and AI strategy, particularly around modern Databricks-based platforms
• Leading solution design workshops and architecture discussions with enterprise clients
• Designing and delivering modern data platforms using Databricks and cloud technologies
• Leading the delivery of consulting engagements and the teams on those engagements
• Being heavily involved in sales and pre-sales, shaping new opportunities with our customers
• Scoping large programs of work and providing estimates and delivery plans
• Supporting RFP and RFQ responses
• Building relationships with technology partners, particularly Databricks and cloud providers
• Working with marketing to produce external thought leadership such as blogs, reports and industry content
• Representing the business as a public thought leader, speaking at conferences, meetups and industry events
• Interviewing and hiring future talent into the business
  
  

About You: 

• 10+ years of experience working across the data ecosystem
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership role
• Strong consulting and pre-sales experience
• Proven experience designing and delivering Databricks-based data platforms
• Strong background in data engineering and modern data architecture
• Experience with lakehouse architecture and modern data platforms
• Exposure to data science, ML and Generative AI workloads
• Strong cloud experience (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Experience working with large enterprise organisations
• Multi-industry experience
• Strong technical pedigree across data, cloud and software engineering
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
• Strong empathy and ability to build relationships across teams and customers
