About the Opportunity

Asplundh is seeking a Data Integration Engineer to join The Digital Innovation Team, reporting through to the Head of Data and Integration.

The Digital Innovation Team is a new branch at Asplundh who have grown significantly over the last 3 years. They are responsible for the development and maintenance of critical business solutions (primarily the Asplundh Vegetation & Asset Management System) in conjunction with the underlying technology platforms and services that enable diverse enterprise reporting and provide the business with knowledge-based insights across its spectrum of corporate interests. 

The role collaborates with business and technical stakeholders to support existing solutions as well as design, develop and deliver best-practice enterprise integrations that empower the flow of information across the organisation. Working closely with Applications, Business Intelligence and Operational teams you will ensure the enterprise integrations are well managed and maintained to ensure that the technology platform is robust, secure, and future proof.

You will work within a small team, affecting real change to maintain existing capabilities whilst pivoting towards dedicated data management and integration uplift. There are immediate technical opportunities, in addition to future contribution toward improvements across cloud solutions, architecture and governance processes.

You have the experience and appetite to contribute toward building a best-practice integration capability within the Digital Innovation Team – which spans the platform technologies, development processes and developing integration solutions.

 

Tasks

The successful candidate will: -

  • Document business processes and data flows within the organisation and identify opportunities for improvement within technology architecture (platforms) and data management/integration workflows.
  • Support and improve existing data storage, transfer processes, integration and replication solutions within the technology landscape and application portfolio.
  • Contribute to the design, development and delivery of integration patterns/standards and artefacts that provision data movement and harmonise information throughout the enterprise.
  • Support and contribute to the design, development and implementation of data engineering and systems architecture solutions on the Azure Platform.
  • Optimise enterprise data storage, transfer and retrieval for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Provide data quality ensuring consistency, security and integrity through support for and development of validation, auditing, monitoring, and logging systems/processes.
  • Contribute to the development of data models, schemas and structures to support operational, reporting and analytical needs. 
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in data engineering, integration, analytics and provide technical guidance, support, and mentorship to the broader team.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree/relevant experience in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience in Enterprise System Development, Full Stack System Development or Back-End Systems Development (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience using examples of common programming languages (eg: Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, SQL etc) (mandatory).
  • Experience with relational database technologies (eg: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Azure SQL etc) (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role with examples of data and integration management within complex enterprise data environments (ERP, CRM, HCM etc) (preferred).
  • Experience with integration technologies (eg: Boomi, Mulesoft, Tibco, Workato etc) (preferred).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (eg: Azure, AWS, Google Cloud etc) (preferred).
  • Experience working within Information Technology services across large, complex organisations providing systems architecture and ICT solutions (preferred).
  • Sound practical knowledge of relevant frameworks for provisioning Information Technology Service Management (ITSM - ITIL) and project management methodologies (eg PRINCE2, Agile) (preferred).
  • Supportive team player that understands operating environments and is outcome focused.
  • Well-developed problem solving, communication and solution development skills.
  • Good time management and recognition of task prioritisation for delivery.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality documentation and standards.

 

Note

  • This role is a permanent, full-time position.
  • The role will be based out of the Wollongong Office.
  • The successful candidate must be have full work rights in Australia
  • Remuneration will be commensurate with candidate’s skill and experience.
