Job Description - Data Modeller | Sydney / Melbourne
Hybrid | 5 Months Contract About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Data Modeller to design and deliver enterprise data models across modern cloud platforms and migration programs.This role requires strong collaboration with business and technical teams, along with expertise in data modelling and structured documentation to support data-driven transformation. Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements, business rules, and modelling priorities.
Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned to business processes and target architecture.
Translate business concepts into clear data definitions, structures, and relationships.
Apply modelling techniques (relational, dimensional, canonical, master/reference) to ensure data consistency and usability.
Develop source-to-target mappings and support migration, integration, and data quality initiatives.
Ensure alignment with cloud data platforms, metadata, and catalogue structures.
Maintain clear documentation including data dictionaries, mappings, and interface specifications.
Support governance, design reviews, and ensure adherence to modelling standards.
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of experience in data modelling, data architecture, or related roles.
Strong experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling.
Hands-on expertise with relational, dimensional, and master/reference data modelling techniques.
Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and translate requirements into data models.
Experience supporting data migration, integration, and data quality initiatives.
Exposure to modern cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, data lakes, data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines).
Proficiency in SQL, modelling tools, and schema analysis.
Nice to Have
Experience in large-scale data platform or migration programs.
Familiarity with cloud data ecosystem tools (e.g., AWS Glue, S3 data lakes, modern warehouse platforms).
Understanding of data governance, metadata, and lineage practices.
Experience with API, integration, or event-driven data modelling.
Exposure to reconciliation, testing frameworks, and audit requirements.
