Job Description - Data Quality Officer

Lead data quality uplift across critical operational systems for a major essential services provider Your new company
Join a large and well-established essential services provider responsible for supporting critical network operations across Canberra. The organisation is undergoing a significant uplift in how operational data is governed, maintained, and utilised - you'll play a key role in shaping that transformation. You'll be part of a collaborative environment that values continuous improvement, reliable reporting, and high-quality data that underpins service delivery to the community.

Your new role
As the Data Quality Officer, you will lead the governance, assurance, and uplift of operational data that flows across multiple enterprise systems, including Mobile Workforce Management (MWM), Works Asset Management (WAM), and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Your work will directly influence operational performance reporting, regulatory compliance, asset insights, and the accuracy of frontline maintenance activity.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the end-to-end governance and assurance of network operational data for internal and regulatory reporting.
  • Establishing and maintaining a daily/weekly data assurance rhythm - including exception handling, trend analysis, and control effectiveness measurement.
  • Designing and performing data cleansing and verification routines (manual and/or automated).
  • Conducting root cause analysis on recurring data issues and implementing preventative controls.
  • Reducing the current error rate significantly by identifying systemic issues and embedding long-term improvements.
  • Working with ICT, Asset Management, and Network Operations teams to ensure seamless integration and data flow between systems (WAM, MWM, GIS, Power BI, and others).
  • Supporting development of accurate and trusted operational dashboards.
  • Ensuring compliance with data privacy, retention, and security requirements.
  • Collaborating closely with field and frontline staff to improve data capture, documentation, and workflows.
  • This is a full-time, 12-month contract with potential extension, based in Canberra.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a data-focused professional who can confidently bridge the gap between operational teams and ICT systems. Your background may come from utilities, field services, asset management, or other environments where accurate operational data is critical.
You will bring:
  • Experience with mobile workforce systems, asset management systems, or field operations in a utility or similar environment.
  • Strong business analysis skills - able to document processes, workflows, and requirements clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyse and interpret data to drive operational improvements.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with frontline and technical teams.
  • Ability to identify systemic issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Understanding of regulatory reporting, asset data structures, and operational data flows (highly regarded).
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance standards.
What you'll get in return
  • A rare opportunity to influence data governance and operational performance at an enterprise-wide level.
  • The chance to lead meaningful improvements that directly impact service delivery and regulatory outcomes.
  • A supportive team culture and a role where your expertise will be highly valued.
  • Competitive hourly rate and immediate start available.
  • Long-term extension potential within a major organisation undergoing significant data and digital uplift.
