Job Description - Data Steward

About the role…

As Data Steward you will work closely with your manager to help lead the execution of the Data Management roadmap, enabling Great Southern Bank reduce risk, and improve the quality of data to help achieve the outcomes of our G24 strategy.

You will play an integral part in bringing to life our ‘Critical Data Asset’ cycle with specific focus on using your skills to drive and support the team by using data quality tools and processes to support, direct and enable business stakeholders to manage their data effectively and with confidence. You will help embed the Data Management Framework by working with and mentoring other Data Stewards to help operationalise the ‘Critical data asset’ cycle within the Data Management Framework.

This role is a critical enabler to the success of our G24 strategy and has direct impact on our customers and our ability to grow. It exists to provide trusted and available data which can be used to make good business decisions and ensure customers are always at the centre of everything we do. This role is directly linked to our 3 pillars: Customer Growth, Operational Excellence, and a disciplined approach.

You will be a member of the Enterprise Data team within the Information Office. The Information Office operates a platform model which is flexible, open, and scalable, enabling delivery of simple, competitive, and effortless technology experiences to our customers. We collaborate across the Information Office with teams including Customer & Enterprise, Core Products and Workflow, Architecture, Technology Services and Planning & Delivery.   

About you…

Essential

·        2-3 years commercial experience in a similar data steward role.

·        Intermediate understanding of the data quality lifecycle & intermediate data discovery and data profiling skills.

·        Intermediate experience using Excel/SQL and Power BI skills (or equivalent toolsets).

·        Solid experience using data quality/governance tools & intermediate understanding of Information Management principles.

·        Awareness of Australian financial industry regulation and legislation relating to data, privacy, and risk (e.g., APRA, ASIC, FAR, OAIC, AML / CTF legislation, GDPR).

·        Familiar with data management and data governance frameworks, and standards (e.g., DAMA -DMBOK, ISO, CPGs).

·        Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in business, finance, IT, or information management.

·        Tertiary qualifications covering data quality, data governance or data stewardship

Desirable

·        Experience working with relevant Great Southern Bank systems and processes.

·        Experience managing the quality of the customer data in an MDM system (Match/Merge, survivorship, matching algorithms etc.).

·        Previous experience facilitating or supporting Data governance forums.

·        Experience in the review of Data Governance policies/standards and guidelines.

·        Experience supporting and the testing of data management controls .

·        Working with Projects, programs and BAU to maintain alignment to Data Management Framework requirements.

·        Programming (e.g. Python / R).

·        Accreditation in data management such as DAMA - CDMP.
