Role Overview:

Our Geelong team has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer / Design Engineer to join them and play a key role in delivering high-quality process plant layouts across food manufacturing facilities.

This role is ideal for an engineer or designer who combines practical plant design knowledge with strong AutoCAD skills, and who enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient, compliant, and constructible solutions. You’ll support the design and delivery of new plants, upgrades, and brownfield modifications in operational food manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop process plant layouts, including equipment arrangement, material and personnel flow, access, and services coordination


• Produce and maintain detailed AutoCAD drawings, including:
  
  
  
  • General arrangement (GA) drawings
  
  
  • Equipment layouts
  
  
  • Process flow and layout coordination drawings
  
  
  
  


• Collaborate with process, mechanical, electrical, and construction teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable


• Apply food safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements (e.g., cleanability, zoning, access, segregation) to layouts


• Support projects from concept and FEED through to detailed design and construction support


• Participate in site visits, layout verification, and design reviews with clients and contractors


• Maintain drawing standards, revisions, and document control

About You

• Degree or diploma in Engineering, Design, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)


• Proven experience in process plant layout design, ideally within:
  
  
  
  • Food and beverage manufacturing
  
  
  • FMCG or hygienic process industries
  
  
  
  


• Strong AutoCAD skills with demonstrated experience producing complex plant layouts


• Solid understanding of:
  
  
  
  • Process equipment arrangement
  
  
  • Material and personnel flows
  
  
  • Maintenance access and constructability
  
  
  
  


• Ability to interpret process information (PFDs, equipment lists, specifications) and translate it into effective layouts


• Experience on brownfield projects in operational plants is highly regarded
